Ban Horse Tripping in Nevada

Bulletin from Help Animals Nevada

URGENT – Nevada Horses Need Your Help

Horse tripping is an event where a horse, often a yearling, is released into a pen and the participant (on foot or on horseback) ropes the horse’s forelegs and brings him to the ground. Horse tripping can cause the horse fatal injuries and is incredibly inhumane because the horses are often submitted to electric prodding and are rendered too lame to walk prior to slaughter. Senate Bill 364 will ban horse tripping in Nevada, but we need your support to make this bill law in Nevada.

We need your support to BAN HORSE TRIPPING! Please TAKE ACTION one of two ways:

Attend the Senate Natural Resources Hearing on 4/6/11 at 3:30pm. The more people present, the more likely this bill will become law.

Send a Letter of Support. Click this link to submit your letter of support: Support SB 364. Please include your home address in the letter. Per Senator Allison Copening’s request, letters of support are to be sent to Help Animals NV individually, to be delivered to her office en masse.

      • after traveling in Mexico and seeing all the poverty its hard to believe that they( meaning the local government) chose to spend money on bullfighting arenas, but its because sicko American and other tourist go to see the torture Human’s have this sick attraction to it.( Look at the gladiators and burning people at the stake)
.Its also hard to believe the locals will bet on cock fights etc, when you see how much squalor many live in down there. But just like this country the ignorant and poverty stricken are usually ( NOT always) the ones who overpopulate, get animals they can’t care for, and attend disgusting displays of animal torture. Who knows they probably get off on human torture as well. Its a global affliction. Always has been. I grew up in the South, and we did not have a lot of $$. I saw a lot of that type of behavior as a child.

I support SB 364. Horse tripping is an event that is held in unsanctioned, unadvertised rodeos that are usually held in out of the way areas. Horses are seriously injured, and often sustain broken limbs and necks. I would like to see Nevada ban these events, as Clark County has done.

  6. What “purpose” does this barbaric event serve!!?? What in God’s name is WRONG with people!!!! Even though, unfortunately, I’m part of it, I HATE humans!! Except for my fellow animal loving friends, that is!! I will NEVER, as long as I live, EVER understand, how anyone could enjoy inflicting so much pain, suffering, terror, confusion, & death, on ANY living creature!! I can’t even stand to watch some of these horrific videos, how can people stand by in real life & let this abuse go on?? How can these people be called “people”?? They are a DISGRACE to the human race! I do appreciate the info., but crap like this is why I don’t read a lot of things that are sent to me, it makes me SICK, ANGRY, &, depressed!! Sorry! Sometimes, I think God should wipe out humans, & give this earth back to the animals, & let them live in REAL peace!!

  7. P.S.: I KNOW it’s all about money, but that still doesn’t explain HOW these people can do what they do!! How can they be happy with themselves, how can they even look at themselves, this is NOT entertainment, anyone who likes these barbaric “bloodsports” must be completely, totally WACKO, & UNFIT for life!!

  8. These kinds of people do what they do because of much inbreeding within their families. Inbreeding causes a host of developmental problems. They do not have common sense, or possess a sense of morality. This is why having children with a close relative is a terrible idea! People like this also tend to mimic how they were brought up, and continue to do so because they don’t have the intelligence to know right from wrong. If there was one person among them that possessed even an ounce of intelligence, then perhaps this one person would have brought up and defended the fact that horse tripping is WRONG! Save these horses and sterilize those participating in this horrible act!!

  10. RT I just heard on local news that Obama is coming to Facebook’s home office on the 20th of Apr. This might be a good time to rally the troops for a local protest. I don’t know too many details–like what time and stuff but another enterprising soul might be able to locate things I can’t.

While Facebook is near Stanford it is not exactly on the campus. Palo Alto police can sometimes be a bit intense because of the nature of Stanford and students in attendance. Going south on 280 if you get off at Page Mill Rd you will run right into the HP home office. Facebook is in this area.

Sorry for the digression and I now happily return you to the blog.

  11. Looks like a “cultural” event to me too. Charro rodeos, packing horses with drugs and crossing the border to here then tying or leaving them to die in the desert, and watch how some Charros teach a horse to “dance” if you really want steam to come out of your ears and want to kill someone. Do we really need this kind of animal abuse here? Any one who participates or attends these should be roped and drug through the cactus naked back to where they came from. Don’t want any of them here anymore.

  12. The hearing for SB364 is today at 3:30 in room 2144 (Senate Natural Resouces); you can watch the live video feed here:

    http://www.leg.state.nv.us/MeetingDisplay/AudioVideo/

Dave and Sue’s ankle-biter “Muffy Patterson” (sp?) who spoke at the Nebraska hearing for horsemeat inspections, may be making an appearance in Nevada as well undoubtedly arguing that horse-tripping *must* be protected. Otherwise, the ‘HSUS’ will be one step closer to “ending all animal agriculture”, raiding your homes and confiscating your pets, and enforcing mandatory veganism on every man, woman, and child in the United States.

  14. Hello all,
Just thought I would stop by to make some comments and ask a couple of questions. I have asked several animal activists to provide recent (circa late 90’s to present decade) documentation or credible evidence of horse tripping in the U.S. by Charros or Mexican Americans to no avail. Nobody has provided any proof that any horses were tripped in any Charro or backyard event. I assure you it does not happen. Please send me some proof and I will personally investigate the claims. I understand that the shock value and false claims generate alot of hate and prejudiced against Charro organizations. I imagine it helps generate monetary donations for your organizations, but aren’t you misleading your own people and forcing legislators to spend alot of taxpayers dollars. These measures have failed and will continue to do so. Please find a better cause to donate to. Eric Mills and many legislators know that Charro organization rules abide by the laws and even went above and beyond the law by eliminating the felling/tripping in our manganas events. Eric has knowledge of this and has copies of the rules for over 3 years. He has first hand reports from Burke Bryant of last chance for animals, several humane societies and animal control departments, Stuart Andrews and others that realize that no horses are tripped in Charro events. The best Eric can do is say.. ” I think they do it when they can”, and put up ictures of events in Mexico. Shame on you Eric. Some of you might not like what you hear but that does not justify the hate and prejudice that is spread by these posts.

  15. In the article that R.T. said fell on his desk. There is a sentence ~ For many riders, the sense of history is everthing. If you want history and culture, take your mexican rodeos back south of the border this is America. These are two clashing cultures and we will not put up with your bloody barbarianism.
