1 Million Caring Souls Reach out to the Horses

HOUSTON (SFTHH) – The Equine Welfare blog, Straight from the Horses Heart hit the milestone of 1 million unique views this day, August 16th, 2011. Originally intended to be a promotional platform for the heart rending book by the same name the blog soon became an internet megaphone for wild horse and horse slaughter related issues. Book author and publisher of the site R.T. Fitch says that he wouldn’t have it any other way:
“Shocked, pleased and happy for the horses pretty much sums up how my wife Terry and I feel right now.” said Fitch, “Our book is all about increasing awareness of the plight of both domestic and wild horses in the United States and for this blog to take a sharp right turn and head into the fertile fields of equine advocacy speaks highly of material that we write upon and also the compassion, drive and tenacity of the individuals that read and comment upon the blog.”
Just a little over 2 years old SFTHH addresses issues centering around the inhumanity of the predatory business of horse slaughter while propelling the Fitch’s into center ring over the controversial mismanagement of public owned wild horses and burros on their rightful land.
“SFTHH has become a premier, public think tank where advocates bounce ideas off from one another to the point that we have actually acted upon those concepts and initiated legal actions in an attempt to halt the decimation of our wild horse herds by the Obama administration‘s renegade Bureau of Land Management (BLM)”, said Fitch.
Fitch is the Co-Founder and President of the Wild Horse Freedom Federation, a Texas non-profit corporation, with 501(c)3 pending, that was a product of the dialogue discussed on SFTHH and is actively engaged in landmark litigation against the alleged unlawful actions of the BLM.
“The readership of SFTHH have helped more horses than they will ever know and in so doing, they have helped each other”, Fitch mused, “I am proud and pleased to call each and every one of them a most sincere and special friend.”

A million strong & growing!! Yes!! I believe the BLM has ever-growing nervousness too. Like never before, they are being challenged! That said, they ARE like stupid, yet savvy, immature things. In addition to the horror they bring to ALL the wild horses, to now go after the Pryor Cloud herd, AGAIN (!), would seem unbelievable, incomprehensible. The BLM knows the value of the years of Ginger Kathren’s research, PBS, an icon… To decimate this herd is like a BLM “We’ll show you advocates!” Like a slap in the face. Trying to more devalue advocates AND the wild horses. Welllll… I know this will only increase our numbers. Get the number ticker on, it is moving up, RT! 🙂

Belated hosanas on your 1 million unique hits, RT and Terry. You deserve every one of those hard-won clicks — and many more. And so do the wild horses and burros.
Speaking of 1 million, there’s an international group http://www.avaaz.org that creates important petitions. Right now Avaaz has a petition addressed to Brazil’s President Dilma in an effort to save the Amazon. The goal was to reach 1 million signatures in 4 days, and in less than that time they’ve already gotten 1,019,000 and the bar has been raised to 1.5 million.
Perhaps someone on RT’s blog would like to approach the Avaaz team — “To contact Avaaz, please … write to us at http://www.avaaz.org/en/contact or call us at +1-888-922-8229 (US)” — and find out whether shutting down the BLM’s wild horse gathers in the U.S. could be the next big Avaaz campaign.

I feel, the round up of the horses is a CRIME. To take [chase] the Horses of the land, given to them years ago,!! To seperate them from their families, to load them [ while cruel devices are beeing used on them] into trucks, and beeing transported [without water or food], to Canada or where ever, and THEN !!! pushed into the SLAUGHTER Houses, and killed in the most INHUMANE way!!!. It is like a repeat, like the NAZIS were doing with the JEWS. in World War TWO.. I am from Holland, and underwent the War. I think, it is unspeakeble,, what is going on, Those Horses are a part of the American History. We have NO RIGHT to do this Crime, The Roundup of the Horses. .I know one thing, those people, who are involved in it, I would not like to be in their Boots , because at their end, ” HELL IS WAITING FOR THEM “.
