The above organizations, along with our own SFTHH and HfHAC, have joined together to ask you to call on Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi on Tuesday, October 19th and ask her to schedule a vote NOW on The Prevention of Equine Cruelty Act (H.R. 503) legislation to ban the slaughter of American horses for human consumption. Schedule the vote NOW. Tell her she has the power to end immense suffering by scheduling the vote NOW during the remaining session of Congress THIS YEAR! NOW is the time for her to step up and do this. Tell Speaker Pelosi that this bill has 183 bipartisan cosponsors in the House, 28 in the Senate, and tremendous public support.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the poster child for corporate corruption of our electoral system.
This year alone the U.S. Chamber of Commerce has pledged to spend an unprecedented $75 million on ads attacking candidates who don’t bow to corporate interests.
However, an explosive new report by the Center for American Progress reveals that some of that corporate cash might actually be coming from foreign entities, which would be a federal crime.
There is already too much corporate cash spent to influence our elections. It’s unacceptable that our democracy would be further undermined by illegal donations from foreign interests.

Sounds like everyone and every organization is out to get only what will enhance their agenda. BIG GREED = BIG BUCKS. We the “little folk” have to go after the Chamber of Commerce and all their “bed pals”, and if they’re getting money from entities that are against the law, they go to jail – not for a short period of time, but for their lifetime. Everyone in the BLM from Salazar on down should get the “ax”, as well as his “helicopter partners”, they should be dropped in the middle of Death Valley for their atrocious deeds. What happened to empathy and caring for animals that are such a great part of our lives. These people are INSANE to even think about what they’ve done to our beautiful wild horses and homeless horses that citizens give up because of their ridiculous reasons in many instances. We must take action to see that this stops and that laws are passed, House Bill 503 and Senate Bill 727, to stop all horses being sent to slaughter for human consumption.

I hope I’m able to articulate this the way I want.
I went and rewatch the 10 min trailer to Disappointment Valley. What the Killtoors and BLM are doing is outrageous. If you haven’t seen this recently I recommend you go rewatch it. It’ll make you angry. It’ll make you sick. You’ll wonder how anyone could do this to an innocent animal.
And after all of that what you get is the realization that the horses need us, each and every one. It’ doesn’t matter how rich or poor you are. You rhave a voice in our democracy. You can choose to vote out incumbents like Harry Reid but beware of who might be replacing him.
The real beauty of phone call day next week is this: if you don’t know what to say on the phone, you get all nervous and forget your speech–WRITE IT DOWN IN ADVANCE. The other thing you can do is fax. And the beauty of this is you can take the time this weekend to think about what you want you to say, write it down and fax next week.
No one mentioned the Prez. I say call the WH line. Just simply ask the Prez for an immediate moritorium on roundups until Congress can look into this mess. Tell the Prez you don’t want your tax dollars spent like this.

Millions of citizen calls have been logged on the White House hotline calling for a moratorium on the wild horse roundups, and an investigation of the BLM’s corrupt and wasteful program. So far we have not gotten a call-back.
Wild horse advocates – will you join those who have been working for over a decade to pass the Federal horse slaughter ban? The Prevention of Equine Cruelty Act – slaughter ban- will protect all horses – domestic and wild, including those hauled to foreign slaughter houses for a merciless end.
Ending US horse slaughter will put an end to unbelievable suffering. Over a thousand US horses are killed each week for food in Canada and Mexico. Of those a significant % are terrified and conscious during processing.
Consumers in Europe will benefit too. They are unknowingly eating American horse meat laced with drugs banned from the food supply that cause cancer and miscarriage.
The Farm Bureau, American Veterinary Medical Association and American Quarter Horse Association are the main blocks to the popular bipartisan bill that will end horse slaughter. These corporate lobbyists have no plan to make it humane, because it can’t be done. They have no answer to the drug problem, because there is no way to track drugs in horses, unlike cattle that are raised for food.
These corporate lobbyists do not represent the people of the United States and they hardly represent their rank and file members. 70-90% of American voters polled across the country agree with folks posting here – horse slaughter needs to stop.
Our Congress needs to do what the American people voted for 2 years ago – transparency, and an end to our Republic being auctioned off – like the horses unlucky enough to be sold to slaughter – to the highest corporate bidder.

I agree with you all and Lynne, I asked Mr President on Tues in my DAILY email to fire Sec Salazar and recommended NM Governer Richardson as his replacement. It’s all about money & corruption, an immediate moratorium is necessary. I asked Nancy Pelosi for that on Wed. Actually I am grateful to all the National Animal Rights groups bringing lawsuits and to the many advocates who networking daily to help save America’s wild horses & burros. We the American people deserve the truth.. Jail the BLM or abolish altogether! Our taxpayers are paying for the 40k horses in captivity (concentration camps), the very public land they have been removed from is now released to cattle ranchers, and what does the world think of America now? … minus the countries that eat horse meat, Belguim, Japan, and …. Ruby gas pipeline proposed 700 miles accross the west – ah yeah, Washington is supporting the corporate lobbyists!
