Cloud Foundation: Video of BLM Workshop and Meeting Online

Direct from the Cloud Foundation

Meeting Photo by Pam Nickoles

The Cloud Foundation, with thanks to Xtomic and our website creator, Jay Ferguson, live-streamed the Department of Interior Public Workshop (June 14) and the BLM Public Advisory Board Meeting in Denver, Colorado (June 15). We felt that the public workshop was an excellent start and look forward to future workshops and conference in which the DOI (and specifically BLM) begins to work with the public to manage our wild herds. Step one is to enact an immediate moratorium on the ongoing roundups.

  1. boy that microphone was too close… sorry. Monika (PS I know in the room it was audible..)

Well my piece was not very audible was it. I said: BLM admitted they are behind in Animal Welfare Assessm. program. They need to step up in animal welfare standard(in regards to Cattoor) since Calico’s high fatality rates do NOT reflect the statement of BLM in the workshop(Lily Thomas) that they do a good job…BLM needs to prevent more suffering … See Moresince the need to do so is imminent now.Since BLM plans gathers on such large scale does not justify less humane methods, and in regards to Don Glenn’s comment on HOW they can be more transparent? By including the public and observers such as Elyse Gardner and Laura Leigh because they do possess the knowledge of equine behavior in the public interest to promote a pro-active partnership such as the BLM now “pursues”….

  2. Glenn might try NOT LYING to the public that gathers will be transparent, all the while a covert gather is occuring! This attempt at spin that, oh, can’t do that on private property is not going go fly. Or the starving horses, the desert is dry, there are droughts in summer, who knows horses roam? Even though the title of the Act being regulated is “Free ROAMING Wild Horse and Burro Act”, etc. This could go on for ever, literally – I have no words in rebuttal today.

Sorry Glenn, I hope you get paid well, and have saved up (Bromwich is coming), to be a target promoting all the DOI/BLM, cattle, Salazar, Abbey et al guff. Because no matter how much reorganization, by how many of the best specialists in that field or how many “Tony BP” type apologies you might conjur up, I, for one, can never, ever beleive one word from you no matter, even, what imperical evidence accompanies it. Not even walking on water would do it. I would concede to others if everyone else embraces you I suppose, but don’t expect even a handshake from me (and you say “who cares!”, yeh, ok).

    Too strong?

    • Glenn knows we don’t trust them. Now they would have a chance to prove any pro-active partnership shift if they so cared. Still, summer round ups are to begin July 1st. Same agenda, same plan. It really would be NO big deal to allow Elyse Gardner attend Fallon or any facility or round ups as a humane observer. BLM allocated 500 K in their budget for “transparency efforts”. SO ? Is this to hire PR gigs like Marty ?
The best and first step for creating transparency is involving us, the public. Let’s see it BLM. Stop the slow motion circus of bureaucracy whilst the horses keep suffering at your hands and the ones you contract despite your own admitting of your lack of animal welfare standards. So why not start with that ???

  3. I’ve never understood why advocates visiting the “private” facilities should be such a big deal fo the BLM. You make an appointment or settle on a schedule, sign a waiver if they MUST have one, and accompany whoever’s doing rounds that day. That’s probably the sticking point. NOBODY is doing rounds, and there’s plenty to hide. They just keep on collecting millions of our tax dollars and let the wild ones rot!

  4. It is hard to hear and catch everything, but, I think we were well represented at the meeting. More and more are coming into this movement, as the word gets out and our group is developing a stronger and more cohesive, unified stand. There are so many people, that it takes a while to get on the same beat, but we are all in snyc. I was very impressed and proud of all who spoke up for our wild horses and burros and I love the fact that they tied it in with our democracy and the will of the people.
